All About Me

Who am I?

Kennedy (they, them) / 27
I live in Chicago. I love Chicago. I breathe Chicago.

By day, I am a Community Engagement Coordinator at a public library where I get to work on tons of fun community events and programs. I am really interested in physical media, third spaces, and community building, which is why I found myself in libraries. I was the quintessential "library kid" growing up, but I didn't recognize it as an actual job before I started working in one. I thought all librarians were volunteers. So, now here I am, many years later, finishing up my MLIS in a few months!

Before working in libraries, I co-directed a local film festival, which was a pretty cool experience. I love event planning and coordination, so working in libraries was a neat transition. Non-work related interests include: karaoke, dive bars (or liquor stores) with pets, Korean food, reality television & game shows, vintage shopping, CD-ROM mystery games from the early 2000s, and board game cafes.

What do I do here?

I made this blog when I was 13 and wrote about YA books, New Girl, Pretty Little Liars and The Hunger Games. When I got to high school, it became a space for me to post movie reviews and journal entries. When I got to college, I started posting homework assignments for my film classes. I stopped posting for a while and in 2020, it became a space for personal essays when I was stuck at home.

Now, it's a little bit of everything. A return to form, I'd say (and do, often), but, for the most part, this space is more of a experiment where I can learn to become more comfortable with writing and sharing my thoughts online.

Maybe someone will read it. Maybe you're reading it right now. Regardless, the goal is to show up and just write. I am working on a few scripts, as well as a middle grade novel about a haunted diary.
